Downsizing...

The hunt is on…

We are shopping for a new camper, and yes, we already have a camper. We currently own a 2009 Heartland Bighorn 3100rl…we truly have loved this camper. But our Bighorn is a beast as Paul would put it. 37 feet long and around 14,000 pounds. So, we are looking to downsize.

We are making a list of things we like and don’t like. Things we want and things we don’t want.

In a perfect world we would be able to build our own, and yes, that’s possible, but not on our budget.

Some of the things that are deal breakers are, being able to access the restroom with the slides in. The reason that so important to us is that we want to be able to use our own restroom while traveling in these times.

This is not a deal breaker, but we would really like a unit with no carpet, carpet gets so nasty and is hard to clean.

We would also like to have a self-leveling system. The unit we have now just has manual front jacks and rear manual stabilizers, it would just make life a little easier.

W would like it to have solar prep and an arctic package. We are hoping to travel to places off the beaten path even in the winter. Like I said earlier we are downsizing, so we’d love for it to be under 30 feet long and around 12 feet tall. When you are looking for campers under 30 feet, there are not a lot of choices in 5th wheels.
We would sure like to take you on this journey with us so that you can see the decisions we make and why. We know that those decisions will not always be right, and we may screw up along the way, but who knows, maybe somebody can learn from our mistakes.

We will leave you with a few photos of our Bighorn and how we decorated it and changed a few things.

So guys, the hunt is on. Check out the video…
